POST GRADUATE PROGRAMME:
The goal of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry postgraduate program is to provide advanced education in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry to churn out highly qualified specialists who are interested in a career of specialized practice, teaching and research.

  1. Postgraduate students are trained in understanding child psychology and behaviour,and its applications in managing children.
  2. The Postgraduate training programme is of three years duration starting with the preclinical exercises for first six months and school dental health programme followed by clinical training in preventive dentistry, restorative dentistry, endodontic procedures , treatment of traumatic dental injuries, minor oral surgical procedures, interceptive and preventive orthodontics , conscious sedation and treatment under general anesthesia. Special emphasis is given in catering to oral health needs of special children.
  3. The students are encouraged to perform treatment using latest advanced materials and techniques like regenerative endodontic therapies , Hall technique, zirconia crowns, Silver diamine fluoride to mention a few. Prosthetic and periodontal procedures in children are performed by the postgraduatestudents under the guidance of faculty.
  4. Regular seminars and journal club reviews, debates, electronic based learning and Problem based learning are part of the postgraduate training programme.
  5. The students are encouraged to attend national and international conferences and present scientific papers, posters and table clinics.
  6.  The Postgraduatestudents are also required to submit a library dissertation and research work dissertation as a partial fulfilment of the M.D.S requirements.
  7. The department also carries out various screening, awareness and treatment programmes to various schools and educational institutes, special schools, organizations working for children with special health care needs ( Downs syndrome, Visually impaired, Hearing impaired and speech impairment , Mobility India, etc.) using the mobile dental van.
  8. The postgraduate students are also required to participate in department outreach programme for orphanages and children of communities in need.
  9. Mothers and children at Anganwadi Centre's have been screened and preventive treatments are performed.

November 14th of every year is commemorated as “Pedodontist Day” and “Children’s day’’ are celebrated in the department
